Garlic Fried Rice | How to make Sinangag

For the third recipe I had to do some research. I had the option of publishing garlic powder similar to our chutney powder / dal powder. But the recipe is very similar to the garlic chutney that I published earlier. So I was not very keen with my choice. Though there were many recipes available with garlic, I was looking for some recipe that will highlight garlic. That is when I came across garlic rice recipe by Radhika. I tried it and it was a super hit at home. You won't believe it but I have repeated the recipe 3 times already!!

I made little changes to the recipe to make it more chinese style and served it with an omelette and paneer gravy. It was truly awesome. Radhika says this is a popular filipino breakfast and is called a poor man's fried rice. Yes this is one of the best ways to use leftover rice though I always made it with fresh rice.

Ingredients:

Cooked rice – 2 cups
Garlic – 10-12 pods
Red chili paste – 1 tbsp
Salt – to taste
Oil – 3 tbsp
Spring onions, greens – 2 tsp
Soya sauce - 1 tbsp
Tomato sauce - 1 tsp

Method:

  • Either crush the garlic pods or chop them into very tiny pieces.
  • Heat a kadai with oil. Add crushed Garlic and sauté over low flame for 3- 4 minutes until it become little brown in color and crispy.
  • Add the red chilly paste and saute until the water evaporates.
  • Add the other sauces and cooked rice.
  • If the rice is cooked with salt - ignore salt else add salt alongwith rice.
  • Mix well and let it get fried for 2-3 minutes.
  • Garnish with spring onion leaves.

Easy garlic rice is ready!! Serve with fried eggs or omelette

Notes:

You can avoid the soya sauce and tomato sauce.
