Potato Butter Masala

This is the name my family members gave to this dish after they tasted it. I told them it is a simple masala curry with potatoes and they came back saying its tasting very similar to paneer butter masala ...

Ingredients:
Potatoes - 150 grams
Onions - 75 grams
Tomatoes - 75 grams
Capsicum - 50 grams
coriander powder - 10 grams
garam masala powder - 5 grams
chilli powder - 5 grams
butter - 10 grams
coriander leaves - few
mint leaves - few
Turmeric powder and salt - to taste

Method:

  • Chop the potatoes into cubes.
  • Microwave the chopped potatoes with little salt for about 3 minutes.
  • Finely chop the oinions, tomatoes and capsicum.
  • In a kadai, add the butter. Fry the cooked potatoes until they turn slightly brown. Drain and keep aside.
  • In the same kadai, add the chopped onions. Fry until onions turn translucent.
  • Add the capsicum and tomatoes. Add salt and turmeric powder. Cook until all the vegetables turn mushy.
  • Grind the cooked onions-tomatoes-capsicum mixture to a fine paste.
  • In a kadai pour the grinded paste, add coriander powder, garam masala powder and chilly powder. Mix well.
  • Add the fried potatoes and allow the gravy to boil and thicken.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and mint leaves.

Serve with rotis or ghee rice.
